Chair Testimony

Changing environment brings insight to the world of dreams and possibilities that if not exposed to, one would not have the opportunity to experience, learn and appreciate. This is exactly what happened to me.

My journey started at the age of 14 years old when my aunt sent for me from the village to come and study in the capital city of Uganda (Kampala) because like us, she had seen that the village offered no opportunities for studies or personal development. The journey led me to England just to cut the story short. When I returned to Uganda after many years abroad, the same dilemma become so apparent to me. I could see many children with crushed dreams or none at all because they do not know how, they are resigned to the situation.

There are many child marriages, pregnancies, disabilities and literacy all around because there are generations that have never been to school so they prepare their children for child marriages for dowry. This is apparent especially for girls who are seen as assets for the family because of dowry. Boys are not immune as they are forced to take responsibilities at a very young age without being well equipped to the expectation placed on their shoulders.

This is the very purpose for a group of like-minded people with similar experience like me came together to form Promised Beginning Charity.
